Bismarck Tribune article: 1 in 6 dentists interested in hiring dental therapists in ND
Supporters of HB 1256 testified before the House Human Services Committee this week, including many members of the North Dakotans for Dental Access coalition. A Bismarck Tribune reporter listened to the testimony and included in her story an interesting fact provided by a party that is neutral to the bill, the Center for Rural Health at UND. According to the Center, preliminary data from the 28 percent who have replied thus far “showed about 16 percent of the 114 dentists who responded would participate, or would participate depending on specifics of the program, in the practice of dental therapy.” The percentage was even higher in rural areas, where 1 in 4 dentists were interested. Fargo group joins ND Dental Access Coalition
The Fargo-Moorhead Coalition for Homeless Persons is the newest member of the North Dakotans for Dental Access coalition, having signed on in the last 24 hours. North Dakotans for Dental Access is a broad-based group made up primarily of North Dakota organizations eager to provide a North Dakota solution to the lack of access to routine, affordable oral care in our state.
